He was born on August 8, 1937, in Virginia, to the late Creed Gates Sr. and Mamie Thelma Gates (Gravely). Frank lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
For over three decades, Frank was the proud owner of an Asphalt Paving Company, a testament to his dedication and unwavering work ethic. He poured his heart and soul into his business, leaving a lasting mark on his community through his hard work and commitment.
Frank will be remembered as a kind and loving soul, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a friendly smile to those in need. His gentle spirit touched the lives of many, and his legacy of compassion and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his devoted daughter, Dawn Michelle Gates-Cooper, (husband, James), his loving son, Michael Gates, and his adoring grandchildren, Michael J. Gates (wife Stephanie), Jason F. Gates (wife Erin) and his great-grandchildren Grayson Gates, Avery Gates. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
A graveside funeral service will be held on October 6, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, located at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together to celebrate Frank's life and pay their final respects.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Frank's memory to the Urbana United Fire Company, as he had a deep appreciation for helping those in need.
Frank M. Gates was a remarkable man who lived his life with integrity, kindness, and a genuine love for others. His memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
