Francis Robert Buckley's Obituary
On Wednesday, March 25 2026, Francis Robert (Bob) Buckley of Mt. Airy, Maryland, entered the gates of Heaven, He was born in Baltimore City, the son of the late Francis Cowen Buckley and Alice Gertrude (Lupton) Buckley. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Darla Jean Buckley. Bob is survived by daughter Theresa A Watts, and sons, Robert E. and wife Carolyn, Thomas A. and James A. and wife Laura Buckley, step-sons Bruce Blaney and Mark Rockman and wife Anna, grandchildren Jessica E Trabing, Patricia M Gish, Danielle (Dani) Thomas, Myranda Morris, Warren Keith Watts Jr., Danielle Rockman and eight great grandchildren.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Intelligence unit in Berlin, Germany during the Cold War. He retired as a truck driver for Western Auto. He was one of the first CDL drivers to hold every endorsement, including doubles and triples.
After his retirement he drove a bus part-time for Frederick County Public Schools. He also worked for several years at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Frederick as an examiner. He finally parked his lunch box in September, 2001.
As a dedicated Christian, Bob started a Clown ministry and a deaf ministry, signing for the deaf at his church and surrounding community. He took many classes in American Sign Language.
Bob was a member and deacon of Ambassador Baptist Church in Frederick.
A memorial service will be held on April 11 2026 at 11:00 am at Ambassador Baptist Church, 216 Carroll Pkwy, Frederick, MD. 21701
