Ernestine Virginia Hite's Obituary
Ernestine Virginia Hite, 80, of Brunswick, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 10, 2025, at Frederick Health Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 13, 1945, in Frederick Maryland to James W. Jackson Sr and Maxine E. Giles Jackson.
After graduation from Brunswick High School in 1963 she relocated to Washington, DC where she lived with her Uncle Johnny Giles. Being industrious person from an early age Ernestine quickly found employment with the local businesses. Several years later she met and married Charles Hite Jr in March of 1966 and relocated to Frederick, MD where she found employment with the City of Frederick. Their family begin to grow, and they soon became parents to Sherrie D. Turner, Charles Hite and several years later Rochelle L. Hite.
One day, Ernestine met Jane Hargett & Erma Lee, who identified themselves as Jehovah’s Witnesses in the door-to-door ministry. She was impressed with the truths they shared with her from Gods’ Word, the Bible. Ernestine learned God’s personal name Jehovah and the wonderful future hope of everlasting life that he has promised to obedient mankind. Being raised as a Catholic, these were new truths that spurred her to eventually dedicate her life to Jehovah and symbolize it with water baptism on June 20, 1975.
Ernestine thoroughly enjoyed the ministry so much, that telling others about Jehovah became her mission in life. In fact, most of her family came to know and serve Jehovah because Ernestine’s love for the truth. She lovingly shared what she had learned with her mother and would regularly create both formal and informal opportunities to talk about Jehovah’s kingdom to anyone willing to listen. Ernestine showed she was a selfless individual by relocating from Frederick, Md to Brunswick to assist her aged parents and mentally disabled older sister. She spent her last 32 years working as a housekeeper, and caregiver which was not just limited to her clients. Despite having her own family, she often volunteered to care for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, hosted many family gatherings. Summers where not complete unless you came to “Aunt Jenny's" as she was affectionately known to the family. She would take you on adventures throughout Brunswick whether it was the Brunswick pool, the Potomac River or Baker’s Park in Frederick one thing you could be certain you were going to have all the peanut butter & jelly sandwiches you could eat! Another of Ernestine’s outstanding qualities was that she was known to be a positive person who always strived to see the good in people and ready to share encouraging thoughts to lift the spirits of others.
Ernestine is survived by her daughters Sherrie Turner, Rochelle Hite both of Brunswick, MD and son Charles Hite of Frederick, MD, three grandchildren Paris Hite ( Jay Morales), of New Port Richey, FL., Rockell Turner ( Vernon Jackson) of St Louis, MO and Shianne Hernandez (husband Jon) of Midlothian, Va.
