Ernest W. Knight's Obituary
Earnest (Ernie) Knight was born on June 22, 1946 in Fauquier County, Virginia to Alexandria Knight and Lorraine Morris. He and his family moved to Mt. Airy, Maryland where he worked in home improvement and established a successful painting and home improvement business, Ernie Knight’s Painting. He married the love of his life, Mable (Kitty) Jarvis in 1963. Together they built a family and home in Frederick, Maryland.
Ernie Knight is known for his compassion, understanding, sense of humor, and spreading the word of the lord. He founded Ridgeville Pentecostal Church in 1985 where he served as the pastor for 40 years. His son Ernie (Buck) joined his business in 1987, and he enjoyed spending time working with his son. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing ball, old westerns, joking around with folks, spending time with family, and taking long rides in the countryside with Kitty.
He is survived by his wife, Kitty; and their children Sandy(Paul) Duvall, Kathy Clayton, Ernest (Debbie) Knight Jr., and Dwayne (Angela) Knight and his grandchildren Michelle, Ashley, Robbie, Brandon, Brenden, Autumn, Isabelle, Eli, and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Alexander (Jr.), Rick, Sam, and his sister Linda.
A visitation will be held at Resthaven Frederick on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Catoctin Chapel at Resthaven. A graveside service will immediately follow within Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
All services will take place at Resthaven, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701.
