Emma Jean Lawson's Obituary
Emma Jean Lawson, 71, of Walkersville, MD passed away at home on January 31st, 2026. Jean was born in Warrenton, Virginia to the late Sterling and Frances (Iddings) Leach on February 24, 1954. She married Donald Lawson on August 15, 1969, and together they built a loving life centered around family and fun, raising their three sons: Wayne, Dan, and Doug.
Jean was known for her immense thoughtfulness, generosity, and an energy that could fill any room. She served as a motherly figure to many and always maintained an open-door policy. One of her greatest joys was having her house full of family and friends. She was very creative. She loved teaching ceramics, particularly to seniors and her grandchildren. Beyond ceramics, she had a remarkable eye for design, and was excellent at decorating, flower arrangements, and various other crafts.
She is survived by her three sons: Wayne Lawson (and wife Angie), Dan Lawson (and partner Evelyn Fauble), and Doug Lawson; four grandchildren: Brittney Grossnickle (and husband Adam), Jordan Lawson (and fiancé Gabrielle Greco), Erika Lawson, and Andrew Lawson; as well as one great-grandchild, Bodie Grossnickle. She also leaves behind five siblings: Claudia Baugher (and husband Jake), S. Douglas Leach Jr. (and wife Debbie), Tom Leach, Sharon Leach and Vanessa Remsburg (and husband Todd). She will also be missed by numerous brother and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and
nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald, whom she always referred to as “Honey”; a sister, Pamela Sue Ramsburg (and husband Lewis); brother, Cleve Arnold Leach Sr., and sister-in-law, Susie Leach.
A private service will be held with the family and close friends on Friday, February 13, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Frederick.
