Mrs. Ella Irene "Sis" Toms, 87, of Frederick, passed away at home on June 4, 2017 after an extended illness. She was the loving wife of Schley T. "Buck" Toms, her husband of 67 years. Born in Frederick, Ella was the daughter of the late Leslie S., Sr. and Ethel Grace (Staub) Holt. Ella loved children, and she babysat her own grandchildren and other children as well. She loved crocheting and flowers, and was a fantastic gardener. She was also an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge. In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Toms is survived by four children, Ronald S. Toms & wife Brenda C. Toms, Schley T. "Skip" Toms III & wife Terry, Rayna Jean Smith, and Richard T. Toms; a brother, Charles Holt & wife Sarah Jane; a sister, Betty Painter; six grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Naille & husband Chris, Nicole Painter & husband Branden, Clela Toms & Sam Wackerle, Brian Toms, Christopher A. Smith & Samantha Watson, Deanna Toms & Branden Ross; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Painter, Gage A. Smith, and Bryce Painter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Mrs. Toms' family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers from Home Instead for all of their work that added so much to the quality of her life and of Mr. Toms'. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 9th from 7 - 9 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 10th .
