Mrs. Elaine Sophie Turner, 90, of Frederick, MD and formerly of Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Frederick Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Turner. Born in Brooklyn, New York on February 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Augusta Schwab. Elaine was strongly connected to her church, Brook Hill United Methodist, for many years. She was part of the Wise Owl group, loved to volunteer for many projects, enjoyed visiting the sick and homebound in Frederick, an avid participant with her senior bowling league, and part of a seniors group who met at McDonald's on 7th Street in Frederick for coffee throughout the week. Her biggest passion was her love of her grandkids, family, and friends. She is survived by her daughters; Barbara Purcell and husband Mike of Long Island, and Alison Flanagan and husband Jerry of Frederick. Three grandchildren; Joseph Flanagan, Tess Flanagan and fiancAC. Adam Campbell, and Noreen Purcell. Brother; William Schwab. And beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister; Geraldine Winterrath. Inurnment will be held privately by the family in the Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702. Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A.
