Mr. Edward Eugene Statler's Obituary
Edward Eugene Statler
Edward Eugene Statler suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at his home in New Market, Md., on June 17, 2024. Ed’s world revolved around people. He loved spending time with family and friends, usually picking crabs or playing with his dogs. Those who knew Ed best knew his love for wrestling, cars, hot sauce, and Soldierfit. He was a loyal fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Miami Dolphins. He lived life to the fullest and was always ready to make a new friend. Ed was born October 12, 1964, and grew up in Waynesboro, Pa., where he was a member of the Waynesboro High School graduating class of 1982. An athlete who excelled at football and wrestling, he used his physical skills and iron determination as the foundation of his career, working in construction for more than 40 years – and building two of the homes he lived in. Most recently, he had been with UFP Construction. In New Market, his home for 25 years, Ed was an active member of the community. He helped with the youth wrestling team, offered handyman services, and loved helping out his neighbors. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ed is survived by his wife, Marie Statler; his mother and stepfather, Joanne and Will Seilhamer; his siblings Crystal Anderson, Jeff Seilhamer, and Jan Seilhamer; his children Ryan and Jessica Statler; his stepchildren Asia Sampson (husband Jay) and Travis Thompson; and his step-grandchildren London, Leo and Juneau. He was preceded in death by his father, Garry Statler. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, Md., 21701. On June 27, there will be a visitation from 4-7 p.m. On June 28, there will be a viewing at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
