Solano, Edward Anthony's Obituary
Edward Anthony Solano died peacefully on March 10, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Colombia, he came to the United States in his twenties with the hopes of practicing medicine. Mid-way through his surgical residency in Washington, DC he was drafted into the US Army. In Vietnam, he was stationed at Saigon Hospital where he fought to save the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Holding the rank of Major, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his efforts. Returning to the United States, he completed his residency and started practicing General Surgery in Frederick, Maryland. Over the next 30+ years, his dream of practicing medicine was fulfilled. A gifted surgeon, he eased the pain of the suffering. However, he never took credit for his work. Instead, he believed he was just an instrument of God’s love for humanity. During this time, he also served as Chief of Surgery at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Privately, he was a devoted husband and father to his six children. Always behind a camera, he joyously captured the beautiful life he and his wife created. He was a mentor, a counselor, and a father-figure to many. His passion for Christ spilled over into the lives of many in Frederick. He will be greatly missed.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sharon (nee McConaty) and their six children, Michelle Whitman (Bob), Monique Witz (Tommy), David Solano (Beth), Scott Solano (Christy), Chris Solano (Phie) and Laura Solano. He is lovingly remembered by his thirteen grandchildren, his great-granddaughter, his sister and his many nieces, nephews and cousins across the world.
His family would be honored to host any who knew him or were touched by his life at his Celebration of Life Ceremony on March 29, 2025 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Frederick, MD from 10 to 2pm. Visitation is from 10am to 11pm. The service is from 11am to 12pm, followed by a reception from 12pm to 2pm.
