Edward Dowling, 77, of Frederick, MD passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia F. Dowling. Born May 7, 1941 in McKeesport, PA he was the son of the late William C. and Mabel (Jones) Dowling. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. He worked as a Police Sergeant for the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department for 21 years and also served as the Security Manager for Frederick Memorial Hospital for 13 years. Edward was a member of the First Order of Police-D.C.-1, the American Legion, Post 91, former Commander AMVETS Post 9 and the Association of Retired Police Officers. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting and relaxing at Deep Creek Lake. He is survived by his children, Allen Dowling and wife Ruth of Clarksville, TN,David Dowling and Candace of Germantown and Debbie Haberkorn and husband Will of Middletown; 11 grandchildren; brothers Warren Dowling and wife Joanne and Gerald T. Dowling and wife Marianne. He is preceded in death by his son Regis Dowling; brother William C. Dowling and his grandson Gavin Dowling. The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11AM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
