Edron R. Lonaberger Sr.'s Obituary
Edron Rufus Lonaberger, Sr., 85, of Sykesville, MD, departed this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1939, Edron was the son of the late Leroy W. Lonaberger and Nellie L. Dieter. He grew up in the Borough of Kenhorst, Pennsylvania with his five brothers, Robert, James, Jack, Leon, and Willard, and four sisters, Margaret, Mary Lou, Lucy and Faith. He attended Governor Mifflin Senior High School in Shillington, Pennsylvania. Edron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964 as a Lance Corporal and was selected for the prestigious White House Marine Helicopter Squadron One, Executive Flight Detachment, HMX-1, “Nighthawks,”1962-1964. Edron was a book binder for Fawcett Haines Printing Co., where he met his wife, Lorraine. He also worked as a floor mechanic for over 35 years.
Edron is survived by his son, Edron Lonaberger, Jr (Lisa) of Celebration, FL, daughter, Cherie Mills (Dan) of Sykesville, MD from his former marriage to Dorothy M. Aldridge, son Kyle Lonaberger (Adrienne) of Germantown, MD, stepdaughter, Theresa Horton (Mike) of Monrovia, MD, stepdaughter, Tammy Torell of Virginia Beach, VA, and sister, Faith Allwein of Fleetwood, PA. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all of whom he loved and cherished dearly. He also had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Lorraine Lonaberger (9/17/2023).
Edron enjoyed gardening, camping, fried oysters, and bluegrass and gospel music. He had a fondness for Basset Hounds and was especially proud of his military service providing executive protection to both President John F. Kennedy and President Lyndon B. Johnson with “The First and the Finest!” More than anything else, he loved and served the Lord faithfully. Edron and Lorraine were long-time members of Central Baptist Church in Rockville, MD, where Edron served as a counter and usher. He later attended People’s Baptist Church in Frederick, MD.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick MD 21701. Dr. Kent Ramler, Pastor, People’s Baptist Church, Frederick, MD, will officiate the services.
