Edith "Edie" Caroline Cross, 75, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD Born on January 24, 1942, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Preston Butler and Mary Catherine (Gilroy) Butler. Edie graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1961. She worked many years as a secretary and licensed resident insurance agent. Edie enjoyed genealogy, horse racing, the Washington Nationals, Redskins and Maryland Terps basketball, but mostly she loved spending time with family and vacationing with the whole family in Ocean City, Maryland. She is survived by husband, Terry M. Cross, Jr. loving husband of 55 years; sons, Scott Edward Cross, Donald Patrick Cross and his wife Natalie, Steven Douglas Cross and his wife Traci; grandchildren, Kenisha Bishop-Cross, Amanda Bishop-Cross, Grace Cross, Ana Cross; great grandchildren, Michael Meyers and Sadie Seabolt; siblings, Mary Smoot, Barbara Johnson, John Butler, Catherine Smith, Laura Jones and Susan Glidden. She is predeceased by her siblings, William, Cecil, Charles, Emily, Patrick Butler and Frances Grier. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. The family is requesting to please dress comfortably and casually for the visitation and for the celebration of Edie's life journey which will follow at 1:30 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Interment will be private for the family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the C.O.P.D.
