Earl Francis "Bud" Jones, 70, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.Born on March 13, 1947, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of Norris Brent Jones and Eva Lorraine (Kreger) Jones.He graduated in 1965 from Frederick High School. He worked at various automobile dealerships for over 42 years as a fixed operation manager, retiring in 2007.Bud loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson, Layne, who he nicknamed, "Palsy" He enjoyed time at the river fishing and making memories with family and friends. He enjoyed visiting family in Minnesota and vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland. Bud knew how to enjoy life, he loved to live.Bud was a member and volunteered many hours at the Amvets Post #7 and the American Legion Post #168 . He was also a member of the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1136, and the Moose. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Jane Jones; son, Chad Jones and his wife Sheri; grandson, Layne Jones; brother, Samuel Jones (Bonnie); brother-in-law, Tom Boser (Vicki); Rick Boser (Patty); sister-in-law, Judy Boser; father-in-law, Don Boser; niece, Amanda Boser; nephews, Jeremy Jones, Matthew Jones and Chad Boser and numerous other loving family members. His faithful companion, his puppy, Bose. He is also survived by many dear and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Edward Jones.The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.A celebration of Bud's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD. Rev. Sean DeLawder will officiate.
