Dottie Jane Meadows' Obituary
Dottie Jane (Cullop) Meadows, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and selfless care for others.
Born April 22, 1944, in Chilhowie, Virginia, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Dottie Jane was the beloved daughter of Raymond Edgar Cullop and Mary Ruth (Atwell) Cullop. She was raised in a large and loving family alongside her eight siblings, where she learned the values of hard work, compassion, and deep devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kelly (Meadows) Serra; her grandson, Dakota; her siblings Charlotte Henninger; James William Cullop; Penny Colson and her husband Jerry; and Patsy Langley and her husband Jesse.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Meadows; her daughters Pamela (Meadows) James and her husband Jeff, and Angela Meadows and her husband Edward Milum; her grandchildren Shayne James and his wife Christine, Peter Serra, and Parker James; and her great-grandchildren Elias and Emilia James.
She is also survived by her siblings Gene Cullop and his wife Juanita; Jolacy Roebuck; Roscoe Cullop and his wife Glenda; her sister-in-law Dottie, wife of James William Cullop; her lifelong special friend Charlotte and James Langley; and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dottie Jane was known for her tireless work ethic and dedication throughout her life. She managed multiple stores for Hickory Farms, where her leadership and warmth left a lasting impression. Later, she found a true calling as a pharmacy assistant, where she took great pride in helping others with compassion and kindness.
She also had a deep passion for travel and adventure throughout her life. In her younger years, she and her sisters journeyed abroad to Jerusalem and Egypt, creating memories that would last a lifetime. As her family grew, many summers were spent camping up and down the East Coast with her husband and daughters, filling those years with laughter, love, and togetherness.
After retirement, Dottie Jane and her beloved husband Harold took to the open road, traveling across the United States for a year and embracing the joy of discovery. They later continued their adventures at sea, taking many cruises with their special cruise friends, exploring the tropics and traveling throughout Europe.
Above all, Dottie Jane will be remembered for her selfless heart. She gave endlessly to those around her—always putting others first, offering comfort, strength, and love in both big and small ways. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
A visitation will be held from 10 am to 11am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Resthaven Funeral Home -- 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701. A memorial service will follow starting at 11am, followed by a reception at 12pm.
