Donald Franklin Martin's Obituary
Donald F. Martin, 88, of Lewistown, went to live in the hands of his Lord on May 10, 2026. Born January 25, 1938, he was the beloved husband of the late Clarice Martin. He was the father of Kathy Martin of Waynesboro and Vicky Martin of Lewistown.
He retired as a Physical Science Technician at the National Bureau of Standards, now NIST. He formerly worked at Price Electric. He was a founding and life member of the Lewistown District Volunteer Fire Department for 56 years, where he remained active until his illness. There he received many awards and served as Treasurer, Director, Line Officer, Firefighter, Driver, and First Responder. He was inducted into the Frederick County Fire Rescue Hall of Fame in 2007.
He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Harper, in 2000. He is survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie Wantz of Waynesboro and Travis Wantz of Thurmont. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD.
At the request of the deceased, there will be a closed casket. The family would like to sincerely thank the caring staff at Meritus Medical Center and the wonderful staff at Tristate Surgeons, especially Dr. Karl Riggle and Erin Donoghue, PA-C.
