Obituary
Mr. Delmar Vernon Schmall, 88, of Frederick, passed away on September 4, 2017 at home, surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Martha Rosen Schmall. Born in Fresno, California, Delmar was the son of the late Henry and Emma Schmall. He served Stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Schmall's specialty was light rail systems, and the highlight of his career was his work on the BART system in San Francisco. He was also a skilled woodworker and avid gardener, who made beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Mr. Schmall is survived by two children, Rose Ann Shapiro (Alan) and Donald Schmall (Lisa); and two grandchildren, Sam and John Shapiro. Mr. Schmall's family would also like to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers and staff at Edenton Retirement Community who provided exceptional care and kindness in taking care of Mr. Schmall. A committal service will take place at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 7th in the Garden of Solomon at Resthaven Memorial Gardens; Rabbi Simon Stratford will officiate. Please omit flowers.
