Dean Alfred Madrid's Obituary
Dean was born on January 14, 1970, in Portales, New Mexico and departed this world on January 22, 2026, in Frederick, Maryland.
If you knew our Deano, you knew his laugh. His infectious joy was what defined him. His laugh would crack the silence of any serious moment. A sharp “HA!” that would hit the sky like fireworks and infect everyone around him. He moved through the world with his heart first. He was a spontaneous friend to all. And cherished by those who loved him.
He is survived by his father, Fred Madrid, and bonus mom, Dubie Madrid, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his loving sister and best friend, Carey, and brother-in-law Johnny of Clovis, New Mexico; his niece Brittney Elliott (Jayson) and their children Liberty, Jagger, and Asa; his niece Gracie Crane (Eli); his nephews Alec Rodriguez and Dustyn Crane (Alexandra) and their children Anastasia, Layla, and Cara, all of Clovis, New Mexico.
Dean is also survived by his three brothers: Leonard Madrid, Louie (Stephanie) Madrid and family; and Gilbert Lucero (Elyse) and family. He also leaves behind his work family along with many more close friends whose lives were blessed by his love and friendship.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Tim Whitfield; his beautiful and loving mother, Brenda Griffin; his loving Nan, Evelyn Griffin; and Papaw, Willie Griffin; grandparents Alfred & Emma Madrid, uncle Jesse Cherry and cousins Evelyn Aguirre, Lisa & Brandon Summers, Jordy Haymen and Tammy Dayton as well as his fur babies Brooke & Luke.
The family has chosen to celebrate Deano’s life privately and encourages anyone whose life was touched by Dean’s beautiful soul to celebrate and remember him in their own special way.
We are entirely grateful to those who were so willing to help in any way, especially due to distance. Juan, Jamie and Cassidy, your kindness and caring nature are immensely appreciated beyond words and will never be forgotten.
