Obituary
Mr. David Lee Kline, Sr., 86, of Mount Pleasant, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Kline, who passed away in 2005 after 52 years of marriage. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Millard E. Kline and the late Margaret J. Miller. As a youth in Washington, D.C. David participated in the Sea Scouts. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 21 and fought in the Korean War. He continued to serve another 11 years in the USMC Reserve as he began his career, selling restaurant equipment and later managing Giant Food grocery stores. He retired from Giant Food after 32 years, and drove a school bus for Frederick County Public Schools for 25 years. Mr. Kline was active with the Shangri-La Marine Corps League Detachment 118 and the Walkersville Senior Group, and frequently volunteered at the Frederick County Food Bank as well as the Libertytown and Walkersville Fire Companies helping with their annual carnivals. He is survived by five children, David L. "Chuck" Kline, Jr. & wife Cathy of Emmittsburg, MD, Jody L. Breen & husband John of Pasadena, MD, Randy Kline & friend Cindy Gaither of Garrett County, MD, Julie Louise McLain & husband Lonnie of Woodsboro, MD, and Ward Jason Kline & wife Shari of Elkridge, MD; his beloved canine, Goldie; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (+2 on the way); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He also leaves behind a special lady, Eula Kasper and her extended family. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Kline was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Kline Verna. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 9th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Garden of the Cross at Resthaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
