David Michael King's Obituary
David Michael King, born on December 6, 1965, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on June 8, 2024. He was born to the late Thomas Henry King and Ann Frances King (née Cahill). He was one of eight children. Dave was husband to Anne King, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Kevin and Emma and soon-to-be father-in-law to Angie and Austin.
Dave’s world revolved around people. He loved spending time with family and friends – golfing, skiing, kayaking, motorcycle riding, mountain biking, visiting museums, and attending concerts. He was a loyal fan of the Washington Capitals and Commanders. He lived life to the fullest, always ready for an adventure. His adventures brought him to three Olympics, 49 of the 50 U.S. states, and many places outside the United States including Australia, Jamaica, Tahiti, England, France, Canada, and Mexico.
Dave was driven by his love for his family and worked tirelessly throughout his career for them. He was proud to have put his two children through college. He worked in customer service and sales in the automotive repair industry for 31 years, most recently at Graeves Auto & Tire in Olney, Maryland.
Dave was patriotic and community-focused. He read multiple presidential memoirs, went out of his way to shake the hands of veterans and police officers, and proudly flew the American flag. Throughout his life, Dave volunteered for numerous organizations, including Wounded Warrior Project, American Red Cross, Team River Runner, The Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA), and Habitat for Humanity.
Dave’s loved ones describe him as selfless, loyal, heart-driven, and a man of integrity. Dave will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Dave is survived by his wife, Anne King; two children, Kevin King (fiancée, Angie Wacek) and Emma King (fiancé, Austin Gouldin); mother, Ann King; six siblings, Thomas (Karen) King, Mary Johnson (Neal Smith), Sheila Blackman (Gary Fountain), John King (Frances McCrae), Ann (Dale) Smith, and Paul (Lucrecia) King; sister-in-law, Donna King; and granddog, Josie.
