Mr. Davey Lee Pendleton's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Davey Lee Pendleton 82, of Monrovia, MD, on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD.
Born on February 21, 1941, in Odessa, Texas he was the son of the late Eldon Lee Pendleton and Lucille (Davis) Pendleton.
Davey was a 1959 graduate of Wink High School, Wink, Texas. Davey graduated with a BS degree in Mathematics and Psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Immediately upon graduation, Davey joined the United States Air Force and became an expert Meteorologist. During this time, Davey was stationed at Andrews AFB and he met his wife of 56 years, Emma (Sacolick) Pendleton. They married in Washington DC in 1967, and moved to Scott AFB, Illinois. After being discharged from the Air Force, Davey took several different positions within the Federal Government, ultimately settling in Monrovia, MD within Frederick County, MD in the 1970‘s. Davey worked for the Department of Commerce for 34 years in Maryland, retiring after working for the US Federal Government for over 39 years.
From the time Davey was a young boy, he enjoyed going to the movies and reading anything related to science fiction and history. One of Davey’s favorite tales to tell was of how he became interested in playing the guitar when he was given a guitar by his fellow school mate Roy Orbison in Wink, Texas. He was inspired to never give up by his relationship with the famous musician.
In the early years of marriage, Davey taught computer classes at Prince George’s Community College. He loved to play his Spanish guitar and enjoyed amateur photography. Davey especially enjoyed going to see his granddaughter play sports, and swimming on the swim team, and taking lots and lots of pictures of family and friends. Dave and Emma took a few cruises with his only brother, Doyle Pendleton and sister-in-law Diana Pendleton which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Davey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma (Sacolick) Pendleton; their two daughters, Valerie Thee and husband, Floyd, and Stephanie Pendleton; one grandchild, Tara Thee. Davey is also survived by his only brother, Doyle Pendleton of Austin, TX, and wife Diana Pendleton and several nieces and nephews.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Eldon and Lucille Pendleton of Austin, Texas.
