Darlene Linda (Klipp) Sweeney, 66, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed away on April 20, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on February 20, 1950, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Bessie Elizabeth (Koontz) Klipp. Darlene worked in various places in Frederick over the years. She worked for Von Hoffman Printing as a print technician for more than 25 years and Sagners Clothing Factory for 10 years. Most recently, Darlene was part time at the Redman's Club, full time at the Eagles Club, and at CVS in Walkersville. She was a member of the AMVETS, Moose, Eagles, Redman and Owl's Club all in Frederick. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, taking trips and was always enjoying life. Darlene is survived by her son, Donald Wayne Sweeney Jr.; siblings, Robert Franklin Klipp, Bonnie Kay Klipp, Vicki Lynn Jones and husband Gary, and terry Sue Klipp; grandchildren, Kelsey Elizabeth Sweeney and Tyler Wayne Sweeney; special niece, Brandy McDermott; good friend, Sue Winpigler; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Franklin Klipp, Richard Wayne Klipp and Gary Lee Klipp. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The family will also receive friends from 10-11am on Monday, April 25th. The funeral service will be held at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 10400 Little Patuxent Pkwy, Suite 480, Columbia, MD 21044.
