From Jim Saylor:
I believe it was when I was in the second grade that the Howser family moved to Damascus. That's when I first Curtis, and we became friends immediately. I don't remember much about those days except that we spent a lot of time together and had a lot of fun. After graduating high school I went to Frostburg and Curtis went to MJC. This was the only time we were not together in our school years. I did not do well at Frostburg, and Curtis did not do all that great at MJC, but gradually we both survived. January 1970 I transferred to Georgia Southern College. I loved GSC and I told Curtis about it. He came to GSC the next quarter. We roomed together, and graduated together from GSC. I bring this up because after graduating from GSC Curtis's career skyrocketed. I dare say that he might be
the most successful person to ever graduate from Damascus High School! Curtis and I have remained close all these years even though we lived 3 thousand miles apart. A better man I've never known! When I retired and started coaching I used the skills I learned from Curtis! He was my best friend, and I will miss him greatly!
