In Loving Memory of Clyde Edward Thomas
Clyde Edward Thomas, a Frederick native, passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 94. Born to Frank and Carrie Thomas (nee Price) on December 9, 1928, Clyde was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. He was a kind and loving man who touched the lives of many with his warm heart and unwavering commitment to his family and country.
Clyde's life was marked by a deep sense of duty and patriotism. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he exhibited tremendous courage and dedication. His service during World War II earned him the prestigious WWII Victory Medal, a testament to his bravery during that challenging time. Clyde also received the Army of Occupation Medal for his commitment to maintaining peace and order in the post-war period. He cherished his time in the Army and wore his uniform with pride. Clyde entered duty in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1957, having contributed his best years to the defense of his nation.
Clyde is survived by a large and loving family who will continue to honor his memory. He is lovingly remembered by his sons; Brian Thomas, Darin Thomas, Clyde Rollins and his wife Evelyn, his daughters, Karree Morales and her husband Pedro, Clarise Rollins-Swann and her husband Darrell Thomas, Janierose Lock and her husband Jerry, his nephew; Joe Thomas, his cherished grandchildren; Leanna Thomas, Julianna Thomas, Bryan Thomas Jr, Jordan Morales, Janise Morales, Ti-Ron Rollins, Ikea Wilson and her husband Ralph, Ija Rollins, Ira Rollins, and Samoria Lock, great grandchildren; Lee’am Thomas, Amias Rodriguez, Kiara Wilson, Jade Wilson, Rafael Wilson, and Sidnei Rollins. As well as a wide circle of relatives and friends, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
Visitation will be held on October 24, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm, and again on October 25, 2023, from 11 am to 12 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. A funeral service to celebrate Clyde's life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, beginning at 12 pm. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, where Clyde will find eternal rest.
Following the services, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory for a repast, where they can share memories and stories, celebrating the life of Clyde Edward Thomas and the legacy he leaves behind.
Clyde will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a dedicated soldier, a loving family man, and a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service and kindness will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
