Clyde Lewis LaBrush's Obituary
Clyde Lewis LaBrush of Wolfsville, Maryland peacefully passed to Heaven on July 4, 2023, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Melanoma. Clyde was born on August 6, 1945, to the late Alfred Healvey LaBrush Sr. & Ella Catherine LaBrush of Frederick, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Miller & husband Richard Miller, brother Alfred Healvey LaBrush. Jr. & wife Gloria LaBrush and brother Paul R. LaBrush. He is survived by sister-in-law Dottie LaBrush and sister Barbara A. Shankle
Clyde is also survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Constance D. LaBrush, along with his daughter Kever LaBrush-Maxwell, son Travis Shane LaBrush, daughter-in-law Katherine Hubbard-LaBrush and three loving granddaughters, Alaina Ann, Ella Katherine, and Nova Eleanor. In addition to his immediate family, Clyde was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Richard (Bing) Keeney and wife Dolores Keeney. He is survived by sister-in-law Diana Keeney along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1963. He served in The US Army Reserves before starting his own construction and remodeling business for 11years. After receiving his Teaching Degree from University of Maryland, he used his thorough understanding of the construction industry to provide real world examples to continue his career as a teacher for Frederick County Public Schools. Mr. LaBrush taught Industrial Arts at Catoctin High School before moving on to the FCPS Career and Technology Center where he taught computer aided design, architectural, mechanical, and engineering graphics. Throughout his years at CTC, Mr. LaBrush took several students to the annual SkillsUSA competition where they won medals for outstanding achievement in architectural, mechanical and engineering design. In 2005, SkillsUSA used one of his student’s design and engineering training to draw up blueprints and plans for the remodeling of part of the SkillsUSA headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia. Later that year, he was honored at the Frederick County Career & Technology Awards Banquet for his outstanding service to students and the community. Mr. LaBrush was on the CTC Student House Design and Build Committee where
students at CTC designed and built a residential house in the Frederick County community every year.
Beyond his professional career, Clyde shared his love teaching by coaching football in The Middletown Valley Youth Athletics. Coach LaBrush was recognized for his commitment and excellence in coaching by The MVAA and coached several teams to the state finals. Clyde was also on the coaching staff of Frederick’s late Semi-Professional Football Team, The Frederick Falcons where he was the Special Team’s Coach. He loved coaching, helping players develop and refine their athletic skills and always encouraged the values of sportsmanship in athletics.
Clyde had a number of hobbies. In his younger years, he raced Enduro cross country motorcycles. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fishing enthusiast. He was a Lifetime Member of The South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. Family hunting and fishing trips will always be memorable to those who called him Dad, Brother, or Uncle Clyde. He also enjoyed spending time boating on the River or Chesapeake Bay and vacationing at the beach was a yearly special family tradition. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing these hobbies with his family and friends.
A celebration of life and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00am at All Saints Episcopal Church 106 West Church Street Frederick, Maryland. There will be a reception following the service in the church’s parish hall to spend time with Clyde’s family and friends.
