Christopher Barber, 35, of Frederick, suddenly passed away on the morning of August 8, In Martinsburg, WV, of undetermined causes. Chris graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1999, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2004. Chris was extremely proud of his military service; he served 6 years on active duty including a 12 month tour in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in 2010 with the rank of Sergeant, and worked for the Department of Defense as an IT specialist until illness forced his retirement. Chris was known for his sharp wit and awesome sense of humor which brightened any gathering. Chris always loved and cherished his family. No matter the distance, he constantly proclaimed his love for all. His faith in God and his strong belief was always there for him and he gave praise for the many blessings he was given. He loved fishing and the outdoors, and was very much into health & fitness. He was also an avid Washington Redskins fan. Chris is survived by his mother Kelly Abbott; his stepfather Dave Abbott; his brother Chad and wife Jen Barber and family; his sister, Paige Flores and family, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, comrades and friends. A committal service with military honors will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 25th in the Garden of Memory at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, MD. Floral tributes are welcome, or donations in Chris' memory may be made to a veterans' charity of one's choice.
