Christine Matthews' Obituary
Christine Matthews (née Ching Ching Yu) passed away on the morning of August 5, 2025, from lung cancer. She was surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 30, 1960 in Hong Kong, China. At age seventeen, she joined the LDS (Mormon) Church. Soon after, she moved to the United States to study in Hawaii. She served as a missionary for her church in Los Angeles, California, which she regards as one of her favorite experiences. After her mission, she continued her studies in Provo, Utah, and obtained a masters' degree. At that time, she met Daniel Matthews. They married in 1987. They lived in California and Utah, and have spent their last 23 years in Frederick, Maryland.
She is preceded in death by her parents and eldest sister, Helena. She is survived by her husband; her three children, James, Emily, and Benjamin; and her siblings, Lily and Ted.
