Mr. Charles S. Stone, Sr., 82, of Winchester, VA passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Stone.Born April 25, 1933 in Loudoun City, VA he was the son of the late Chester and Mae Barthlow Stone. Mr. Stone proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Charles worked as a Maintenance Engineer Supervisor for Elmwood Terrace until retirement in 1997 and also and worked for more than 30 years at the Sugarloaf Craft Festivals. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #11, Frederick. In his spare time, Charles, enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Lorrie Staley of Frederick, Charles Stone, Jr. and wife Muriel of PA, Greg Stone of Frederick and Dean Stone and wife Elizabeth of Frederick; step-children Melinda Stone of WV and Johnny Stone of Frederick; six grandchildren; five step grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; sisters Mary Russell of Jefferson and Kathryn Russell of Leesburg; brothers Harrison Stone of Admastown, Henry Stone of Adamstown, Howard Stone of Adamstown and John Stone of Frederick.He is preceded in death by his brothers Chester, Robert and Wilbur Stone; his first wife Doris Phelps Stone and sisters Nina Foreman, Dottie Merer, Betty Lou Scwartz and Peggy Wilt. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 6-9PM where a service will begin at 1PM on Tuesday, July 7. Deacon Debbie Williams will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.
