Charles Clayton Sines' Obituary
Charles Clayton “Jake” Sines, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away following a brief illness on December 20, 2025.
Born May 7, 1937 in Frederick County, Maryland to Harriet Burndean Lenhart and Charles Kieffer Sines, the second of five children. He was a 1955 graduate of Frederick High School and a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. The Navy provided Jake an opportunity for training leading to his successful career as a welder and piledriver. He spent 40 years in heavy construction, welding, and piledriving, often as a job foreman. Jake was part of building some of the most iconic structures in the Maryland and D.C. area, including the Washington Metro subway, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and the Regan National Air Traffic Control Tower.
In addition to his career, Jake was an active member and officer in several veteran and service organizations in his community, including the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club, Mt. Pleasant Fire Company, Amvets Post #2, American Legion Post #282, and the Avalon in Mt. Pleasant where he served as Resident Philosopher.
Jake is survived by his beautiful Italian bride of 61 years, Emily Marie Feraro Sines. In addition, he is survived by his son, John C. Sines and Becky Servey, his daughter Amy B. Sines and husband John Paul “JP” Rogers, his grandchildren Drew (Sara), Brett, Natalie, and Isabella, his siblings Barbara (Harold) Moser, Kieffer “Kenny” Sines, Walter “Binky” (Patty) Sines, and his Italian family Linda (Robert) Kardos, Laura (John) Poleski, and Jeanne (Dan) Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul “Whitey” Sines, nephew Brian Sines, and great nephew Kevin Gradoni.
Jake was a force of nature—a presence in his community with a heart of gold, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a Jake Sines Memorial Community Fund for those wishing to remember him. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/00d769a75.
