Charles Leroy Simms' Obituary
Charles Leroy Simms Jr, 66, of Frederick, MD, was called home on January 16, 2024. Charles, affectionately known as “Chuckie” or “Luckie,” was born on April 8, 1957, to Elsie Simms and the late Leroy Simms. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to his “Boo,” Janice Simms.
Chuckie graduated from Walkersville High School in 1975, where he was named “Most Athletic” by his senior class. He was known for his basketball talent, as well as his wristbands and high socks. He enjoyed watching his favorite westerns at home, ensuring his car was always spotless, and he loved to travel. He was employed by Tamko Roofing Company for 17 years when he fell ill.
Chuckie was a New Dimension Worship Center member in Walkersville under the leadership of the late Pastor Alexander Hardy and First Lady Barbara Hardy.
Chuckie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Janice Simms; his mother, Elsie Simms of Walkersville, MD; his children; daughter Lotoya Gee (Larry) of Frederick, MD; sons Charles Simms (Mandy) of Walkersville, MD and Michael Morris (Shanay) of Hagerstown, MD; Stepchildren, Erica Naylor (Chris), Monique, and Larry Pryor all of Texas. Siblings Corey Simms (Renee) of Florida and Bernard Simms (Alda) of Frederick, MD. Special aunt Pamela Mallory of Hagerstown, MD. 20 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, his special granddaughters Eva and Camya, great-granddaughter Madison, and godson Ricky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Simms; brother, Tyrone (Snake) Morrison; sister, Althea (Penny) Guliford, Grandparents Hank & Maude Morrison and John & Gertrude Simms.
Celebration services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Frederick, MD. The viewing will begin at 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life reception in the Monocacy Lounge at Resthaven.
A private burial will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
