Charles Franklin Rentzel's Obituary
Charles Franklin Rentzel, 96, of Brunswick, MD, passed away on January 28, 2026. Charles was born on April 22, 1929 in Middleburg, Maryland to John and Maude Rentzel.
Charles graduated from Elmer A. Wolfe school in 1947. Shortly after he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp (later changed to Air Force) and served from 1948 to 1952 as an upper air meteorologist, flying into typhoons in the western Pacific Ocean while stationed in Guam.
Charles was a member of Charlestown Moose Lodge, Boonsboro American Legion, Frederick Redmans Club, Amvets Middletown, and Elks of Frederick, Maryland. He also enjoyed many Tuesdays at Brunswick American Legion and Thursdays at Anchor Bar in Frederick.
Charles was a friendly person who made friends wherever he went with his positive attitude and joking personality.
Charles was predeceased by his son, Douglas Rentzel.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Anna Snoots Rentzel; daugther Sharon Rentzel-Mrenak (Gary); step children Gary Cunningham, Chrystal Reed (Dennis); grandchildren Christa Rentzel-Honer (Chuck); 3 great granchildren, 7 great-great granchildren, 2 step grandchildren; and a host of friends.
The family will receive family and friends for a visitation on Thursday, February 5, from 10am-12pm with the funeral service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Frederick County Humane Society or another charity of your choosing.
Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
