Charles Wayne Boclair's Obituary
Charles Wayne Boclair, 78, of Frederick, MD passed away on July 4, 2024. Wayne was born on August 21, 1945, to the late Charles C. Boclair and Almira Acuff Boclair, in Philadelphia, PA.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in Philadelphia in 1963, Wayne went on to study Biology at Temple University and earned his Master’s degree in Virology at Villanova University. His first job was a Senior Research Fellow at Vineland Laboratories, a subsidiary of IGI, Inc., kicking off a 40 year career in vaccine research and development.
After retiring in 2013, Wayne spent his time volunteering at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and at a local animal shelter where, in 2017, he adopted his beloved dog Aero. As Wayne navigated through various health challenges, Aero was a constant source of joy and comfort.
Wayne enjoyed many hobbies over the years; sporting clays, building American Flyer model train sets, golfing, and US currency collecting were some of his favorites. Wayne played the piano and was a music lover, especially “big band” jazz. He was a lifelong learner, and as such, was always seeking knowledge on a variety of topics and eager to pass his findings on to his friends and family.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Linda; his son Dave C. and his daughter-in-law Emily (Schantz) Boclair.
