Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Hancock (Kay), 90 of Frederick passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members.Born January 3, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, she was one of 12 children born to the late Lyman and Catherine (Powers) Mansfield, whom later relocated to the DC Metropolitan area. She was preceded by her brothers, William, Art, Lyman (Ike), Johnny, Jimmy and sisters, Joan Farrell and Charlene Shimer. She is survived by her husband, Ernest B. Hancock (Buddy) of 72 joyous years; her loving daughter, Donna and son-in-law, Robert Logan; grandsons, Patrick and Michael Foster and their wives, Sandy and Beth; and four great-grandchildren, Bradley, Michael, Samantha and Gabriel Foster. Catherine is also survived by her sisters, Rosemary Younger and Sharon Mansfield; brothers, Bobby and Tommy; brothers-in-law, Bill Lumsden and Mary Fevola, and Dwight and Judy Lumsden; sisters-in-law, Betty Taylor, Doris Hyer and Esther Mansfield; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 4th from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
