Catherine Blanche Carpenter's Obituary
Catherine Blanche Carpenter, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed into eternal rest on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 15, 1940, in Johnsville, Maryland, she was the daughter of S. Albert and Carrie Pauline Sayler. Catherine's life was one of unwavering devotion to faith, family, and service.
A faithful member of Beaver Dam Church, she found immense joy in serving the Lord. Her life was a living testament to God's grace, and she will be remembered for her deep love of animals, her kindness to all people, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, S. Albert and Carrie Pauline Sayler; her son, Gerald Horner Jr.; her late husband, Gerald Horner Sr.; her husband, Gerald M. Carpenter; her sister, Margaret Smith; and her brothers, William F. Sayler and John Robert Sayler and Son In Law, Kelly Holt.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, which will be carried on by her children: Duane E. Horner and wife Jan, Denise Annette Smith and husband Dale, Johnathon Horner and wife Ruthie, Cheryl Horner Davis, and Andrea Heffner. Also left to honor her memory are her siblings, Jane Barthlow and Sterling Sayler, as well as 10 beloved grandchildren: Jack, Carrie, Erin, Jennifer, Dale, Ashley, Johnathon, Allison, Cody, and Bradley, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Services for Ms. Catherine Carpenter will take place on Thursday, September 25, at the Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, Maryland. The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the service to follow.
