Carolyn L. Travis' Obituary
Carolyn Louise Travis (Brannon) passed away on June 12, 2025. She was born on March 12, 1941 in Webster Springs, West Virginia. Carolyn is now reunited with her husband, Donald Lee Travis, her parents, Clyde William Brannon and Beatrice Houck (Nicholson), her sister, Linda Sue Benish of Tawas City, Michigan and Rogers, Arkansas, daughter-in-law Kimberly Travis, and grandson Robert “Billy” Travis of Waynesboro and Marion, Pennsylvania.
Carolyn was married to her husband, Donald, on August 26, 1960, they spent 61 happy years together until his death on February 9, 2022. Together they had two sons, Robert and Stephen Travis. Carolyn is survived by her two sons, daughter-in-law Diane Travis, 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Carolyn demonstrated unwavering dedication to her family. After a brief courtship, she and her husband married and shared a long and fulfilling life together. She relocated with her family from West Virginia to Frederick, Maryland. For the majority of her life, she served as a devoted mother and homemaker, finding immense pride and joy in raising her two sons and subsequently assisting in the care of her numerous grandchildren. She also held positions as a School Crossing Guard (Frederick City Police Department) and later as a janitor on Fort Detrick, at the Frederick Cancer Research Center in Frederick, Maryland.
Carolyn enjoyed telling stories of her childhood and was as spunky as they come. She never hesitated to come when her family called for help. She was known for making the best chocolate pies and peanut butter candies. She enjoyed taking pictures of everyone she loved. She was a memory maker and a memory preserver. She kept clippings of newspaper articles related to her family, drawings from her children and photos of her life so that they might be passed on to future generations.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 20, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701. A viewing will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed immediately by her funeral service from 11 to 12:00 PM. A repast will also be held from 12:00 to 2:30 PM.
Carolyn was a remarkable individual who leaves behind an enduring legacy. The memories she created are immeasurable, and the love for her family is unforgettable. She will be profoundly missed.
