Carolyn Marie Carbaugh's Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Marie Carbaugh, 78, of Thurmont, MD, passed away in her home on January 23, 2023. She was the loving wife of James H. Carbaugh, Sr for almost 60 years.
Born April 26, 1945, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Esther May Nogle and Clarence Isaac Gilbert.
She was employed by Claire Frock for numerous years. She then went on the be a Licensed Day Care Provider for over 30 years, giving her the opportunity to have two generations under her loving care. She was the matriarch of the family, always having an open door and giving unconditional love to her family and family-in-love.
Carolyn held the position of treasurer for TOPS Club and was crowned queen for MD #303 Emmitsburg. She loved baking, especially cakes and cookies. She enjoyed ceramics, going crabbing on the bay and always had a smiling face and a hand to lend when her children and grandchildren were active in 4-H.
She is survived by her husband James and four children, James “Pete” Carbaugh, Jr (Sheri), Vickie Carbaugh (Harry), Brian Carbaugh (Linda), and Damuth Carbaugh (Rachel); grandchildren James “Jamie” Carbaugh, III, Brianna Orris, Jesse Carbaugh, Travis Adkins, Ricky Adkins, Dakota Carbaugh, Jacob Carbaugh, Destiney Carbaugh, Delano “DJ” Gregory, Kyle Gregory, Mindy Gregory, Brandy Gregory; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Donald Gilbert and Leon Coyle; sisters, Melodye Irey, Monica Burke, Martha Hidgon, Kim Wagner and Amy Stover.
She was preceded in death by her brother, David Gilbert and grandson, Richard Stone.
The family will receive friends at Harney Volunteer Fire Co, 5130 Harney Rd, Taneytown, MD 21787, at her Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2:00pm.
