Obituary
Mrs. Carol Diana Shelton, 64, near Libertytown, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Born November 2, 1950, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late John W. Jr. and M. Lavinia Blackburn Bruchey. She was the wife of George Edward "Ed" Shelton who died December 7, 2014. Carol was a 1968 graduate of Frederick High School. She enjoyed her plants and flowers, crocheting, line dancing, playing bingo, Baltimore Orioles baseball, sitting on her porch drinking coffee and birdwatching, especially her hummingbirds; her dog Brady and spending time with her grandchildren. In earlier years she was employed with National Geographic and then with Frederick County Public Schools as a bus driver, prior to retirement. Surviving are a son, George Edward "Eddie" Shelton Jr. and wife Cindy of Union Bridge; a daughter, Melissa "Missy" Carpenter and husband Casey of Libertytown; 5 granddaughters, Laura Reese and husband Chad, Samantha and Jodi Shelton and Alissa and Cierra Carpenter; a brother, John W. Bruchey III and wife Carol of Waynesboro, PA; a sister, Arie Jackson and husband Joseph of Colorado; half-sister, Anna Hodges of Florida and a special niece, Kim Roman and husband Nick of Florida. She will be fondly remembered by close friends, Glenna and Bub Unglesbee and Wayne and Gail Burrall. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Rev. Linda Lambert, retired Church of the Brethren pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 19.
