Carol Lynn Conlon's Obituary
Carol Lynn Conlon, 72, of Hedgesville, WV, departed this life on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Winchester Medical Center with her beloved husband Lee Conlon by her side.
Born on June 13, 1951, in Highland Park, Michigan, Carol was the daughter of the late Herbert and Caroline Emma (Klosky) Fink.
Carol attended the University of Maryland and enjoyed a long career as a Systems Analyst on many shipbuilding contracts for the US Navy. One notable project she worked on was a polar icebreaker, the Healy, for which Carol also participated in the initial ice trials in the arctic. Lee fondly referred to her as the prettiest shipbuilder he ever knew.
Because of her great heart, Carol never met a stranger – you were instantly a friend until you showed otherwise. She loved playing Mahjong with her Woods friends and was a pro at Sudoku. Carol had a great love for children and was fiercely loyal to her family and closest friends. You crossed someone she loved at your own risk. She considered her granddaughters as though they were her own children. Again, don’t cross them!
Carol suffered from chronic illnesses yet kept a gentle and loving spirit. Because of her inner and outer beauty, people seldom recognized that she was in ever-present pain. Her loving heart transcended her several illnesses.
In addition to her husband Lee, Carol is survived by daughters Judy Conlon and Terri Shearer, sons Eddie and Danny Conlon, sisters Jan Cope (Char) and Sharon Bradley, brothers Dick Hemme (Sharron) and Bob Fink (Debbie), sister-in-law Barbara Baker, granddaughters Aria Conlon, Sara Barth, Samantha Stine (Asher), Brittany Fitzgerald (Dustin), Courtney Fitzgerald (Ian), Jordyn Stalling, grandsons Dahmnaic Conlon (Kaylie), Kingston Conlon, Nick Conlon (Salome), Levi Stalling, great grandchildren David, Louann and Sofia Barth, Ezekiel and Isaiah Stine, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Carol will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11 am at Hedges Chapel in Hedgesville, WV. Interment will be private at 11am, on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carol’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Berkeley County Backpack Program.
