Ms. Carole Bruce (Duckett) Bowie, 72, died Thurs., Sept. 18, 2014, at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. She was the daughter of Mrs. Emma H. Duckett and the late Earl M. Duckett. Born Apr. 18, 1942, in Frederick, MD, Carole was a member of Strong Tower Christian Church and former member of Asbury UMC. She was a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School in Frederick, MD, and later a graduate of the Wilfred Beauty Academy in Brooklyn, NY. She relocated to New York in 1969 where she was employed by several law firms. She also worked briefly as a cosmetologist before returning to Frederick in 1986 and owning and operating Cbruce Beauty Supply Store. She was then employed by NIH for 16 years and retired in 2006. Carole leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Emma Duckett of Frederick; her beloved daughter, Robin Silvera and granddaughter Ashley Richardson of Queens, NY; two aunts, Elizabeth Morris and Dorothy Makel of Frederick; two uncles, Arnold Ambush and wife Marilyn of Frederick and Wilson Ambush of Washington, DC; a host of cousins; and goddaughter, Taren Stanton of Laurel, MD. She will also be remembered by close cousins Sherrie Hughes and Elaine Watts; close and dearest friends Marilyn Ambush, Delores DeLauder, Barbara Ann Stewart, and Ethel Tritapoe; longtime childhood friend Veronica Bowie; and long distance friends Grace Anderson and Joyce Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Sat. Sept. 27, 2014, at Asbury UMC, 101 W. All Saints St., Frederick, with viewing at 9 a.m., wake at 10 a.m. and funeral at 11 a.m. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
