Carmine Francis Mattiello, age 89, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018. A man of faith, he will be remembered for his great sense of humor and storytelling, and the love of his family and beloved wife of 63 years, Rose Marie Guzic Mattiello, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2017. Born in Lilly, Pennsylvania, Carmine was the twelfth of thirteen children of Aniello and Marie Mattiello. He graduated from Lilly High School and was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He married Rose Marie Guzic, also of Lilly, in 1954, moved to Maryland to raise a family. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1977 and worked at WTTG-TV Channel 5 in Washington, D.C. for another decade. Mr. Mattiello is survived by four children, Carmine Mattiello (Darlene) of Ellicott City, MD, Joseph Mattiello of Mt. Airy, MD, Christina MacIsaac (Stephen) of Falls Church, VA, and Regina Montgomery (David) of Damascus, MD, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one surviving sister, Marie Tremel of Altoona, PA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 14th at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771. Inurnment at St. Michael's will immediately follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity or foundation of one's choice.
