Carlton "CB" Bishop's Obituary
Carlton Bishop (CB) of Frederick, MD passed away at Edenton Retirement Community on May 9, 2023. He was born on August 29, 1938 in Lufkin, Texas.
CB is survived by his daughter Betsy Joseph (wife Randi) of Mundelein, IL; son John Joseph (wife Lenna) of McKinney, TX and son, Sonny Joseph of Smithsburg, MD. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan (wife Kendra), Evan, Ethan, Aidan and one great grandson, Levi.
CB was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jennie, and his daughter, Connie Bishop Rice and son-in-law, Wilbur Sam Rice, his parents, Andrew and Ethel, and his eight brothers and sisters, R.F., Etna, Clarine, Lera, R.T., Doyle, Billy, and Jimmy.
CB and his family moved to Yellow Springs in 1968. An Army Veteran, Carlton served from 1956 to 1968. After leaving the Army he was employed by the Department of Defense-Worldwide Communications in a civil service position at East Coast Telecommunications at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD until his retirement.
CB loved sports, both playing and watching. A bowler for many years, he then turned to softball. He was proud of the no hitter he pitched in the softball league at Fort Detrick. He took up golf in his later years and was especially proud of his “hole in one” on hole 15 at Glade Valley Golf Club.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Kathy Altman, associate Pastor of Brookhill United Methodist Church, will be held on June 12, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, 9501 B Catoctin Mtn Hwy, Frederick MD 21701. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
