Carl Wilbur George, 83, passed from this life into Eternal Life on January 10, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born July 26, 1934 in Wormleysburg, PA to the late Wilbur and Helen Moore George. Graduating from New Cumberland High School, New Cumberland, PA in 1952, he married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth "Betsy" Class on January 23, 1954. Also surviving are 6 children; Michael George and wife Gail, Scott George and wife Vicki, David George, Laurel Neff and husband Randy, Cindy Owens, and Carla George. 12 grandchildren; Melissa, Jennifer, Rachel, Phillip, David Jr., Amy, Anna, Matthew, Amanda, Robert, Sarah, and Angelique. 10 great-grandchildren; Iian, Elijah, Brandon, Jasmine, Chase, Leah, Camden, Delilah, Hunter, and Lily. Brothers; Ronald George and wife Yolanda, and Keith George and wife Lynn. Sister; Carolyn Leiter and husband Richard. And many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Stephen George. Carl joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard 28th Division, Harrisburg, PA in 1951 and served until moving out of state. He graduated from Penn State University, York, PA Campus with an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology. He was employed by General Electric, Co. in Syracuse, NY for 3 years and in Goldsboro, NC for 2 years. While in North Carolina he joined IBM as an Custom Engineer and was sent to Frederick, Maryland where he worked for 35 years until he retired. He loved sports and in high school played football, basketball and baseball. Riding his Triumph motorcycle was a favorite pastime for many years and his means of transportation to college. Camping was a favorite vacation pastime, notably the trip across country to the G.A.R.B.C Church conference in San Diego, CA in 1972, in a Ford Van with 6 kids and a fold down camper, a 6-week journey. Completing his education, he earned his B.S. Degree in Business in 1974 from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV. Carl was a cat lover, even breeding Siamese kittens for many years. In January 1961, Carl and Betsy accepted Christ as Savior at North Syracuse Baptist Church and began serving the Lord. Teaching and helping in a Missionary Outreach. Christian School became a priority and they helped start Goldsboro Christian School in North Carolina in 1963. Carl was on the Founding Board of Heritage Academy, Hagerstown, in 1969 and served many years there. Carl and Betsy joined People's Baptist Church in January 1965. Carl did the taping and editing of the morning service for Sunday morning radio broadcasts each week. He taught an adult Sunday School class and was a Deacon for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 1030 AM at People's Baptist Church, 6648 Carpenter Road, Frederick, MD, with Dr. Kent Ramler officiating. After a brief luncheon Interment will take place at 330 PM at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to People's Baptist Church or Frederick Christian Academy.
