Bruce Kenneth Whitmore's Obituary
Bruce Kenneth (Ken) Whitmore, a lifelong Frederick County resident, peacefully entered his eternal rest on June 24, 2026. He was the dedicated husband of Maryann Whitmore, his wife of more than 68 years. Born December 30, 1933, near Lewistown, he was the son of the late Steiner M. and Mabel R. (Long) Whitmore.
Born and raised on the Whitmore dairy farm, Ken was a dedicated farmer. After graduating from Frederick High School he married Maryann and began a happy lifetime with her as husband and wife. Ken along with Maryann were active members of First Baptist Church in Frederick for over thirty years singing in the church choir and the Golden Tones chorus. Having been raised in the church he had also been a member at Monocacy Church of the Brethren where he and Maryann raised their sons. After farming for 50 years he worked for Valley Graphics Service and Mick’s American Printing. Ken’s innate sense of geographic location helped him maneuver the streets of the Greater Frederick, Baltimore and Washington D.C. area with skill and precision.
He read the Frederick News-Post cover to cover providing him with a well of information and enjoyed completing puzzles with his wife in his spare time. He was always a humble, caring man who loved walking with His Lord and learning more and more about Him in his Sunday School with Mike.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Gloria Bachman and Doris Alexander. Surviving is his wife Maryann, their three sons, Steven (Hernie), his three sons Aaron, Nathan and Andre, Stan, and Patrick (Kathy) and their children Japheth, Justin, Jeremiah, Lydia, Isaiah, Evangeline, Brit, and Augusta; his wife’s sisters Dorothy DePalma and Carolyn and Bill Kauffman and many nieces and nephews who will lovingly miss ‘Uncle Ken’.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, Maryland. Reverend and family friend Pastor Duke Jeffries will officiate with interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens following the service. Family and friends are invited to a reception at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Ken’s memory to First Baptist Church, 7040 Bowers Rd., Frederick MD, 21702.
