Bridget Ann Plunkard's Obituary
Bridget Ann Plunkard, born to the late John Edward Harley and Patsy Montana Fultz on June 29, 1965, departed from this world peacefully on September 25, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Brian Plunkard, and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Bridget's love extended beyond her family, encompassing all creatures great and small. She is survived by her children, Bradley Plunkard and his wife Heather, Briar Plunkard, and Brayden Plunkard, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and generosity. Bridget was a loving grandmother to Deegan and Carla Plunkard, nurturing them with the same warmth and love that she shared with her own children.
In addition to her immediate family, Bridget leaves behind her sister, Bonita Harley, and a special niece, Chasity Cool, who held a special place in her heart as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bridget's love for animals was boundless, as evidenced by her four faithful canine companions, Ollie, Luchlan, Mina, and Aliya, and her beloved feline friend, Summer. She also had a menagerie of chickens, cats, and her cherished rabbit, all of whom knew her as their caring guardian.
Bridget's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to causes close to her heart. She was a passionate advocate for animal rescue, and her involvement as a staff volunteer with Kindred Hearts Transport Company touched the lives of countless animals in need. As House Mother for Arc of Washington County, Bridget provided a nurturing home to those in her care, offering love, guidance, and support when it was needed most. Her years of service at various nursing facilities demonstrated her commitment to easing the burdens of others and brightening their days.
For a number of years, Bridget served as a courier for the Frederick Newspost, bringing the news to the doorsteps of her community with a smile. Her strong work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew her.
Bridget was a force of nature, known for her spitfire personality. She never hesitated to share her thoughts and opinions, always delivered with honesty and candor. Her presence in any room was impossible to ignore, and her words left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to engage in conversation with her.
In addition to her parents, Bridget was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Sophie Fultz, and her cherished nephew, Richard John Holmes. She also fondly remembered her departed canine companions, Cappy, Sadi, Chewbacca, Jammer, and Lady, who brought joy and comfort to her life.
A celebration to honor Bridget’s life will take place on October 6, 2023, beginning at 3pm at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, 9501 B Catoctin Mtn Hwy, Frederick MD.
