Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Laumann's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Laumann, age 88, passed away peacefully July 28, 2024, at the Gettysburg Center. She was the wife of 63 years to Ervin A. Laumann (Al). She was born on July 13, 1936, in Frederick to the late Charles C. Wiles and Leona C. Wiles. She grew up as a young girl on a farm in Rocky Springs. She was a member of the Edgewood Church of God.
Betty graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1955, and was employed with Earl's Shoe Store for many years. She was also employed at the Maryland Sheriff's Youth Ranch, where she found her calling and loved the children she helped.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, bingo, playing cards, and spending time with family. One of her greatest attributes was meeting new people and talking for hours. She loved gardening and planting her flowers in the spring and seeing them bloom throughout the summer.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Goetz (Kirk), Cynthia Morris (Jeff), Douglass Laumann (Robin), and Bryan Laumann (Candy). She is also survived by six (6) grandchildren: Misty Schiburr (Chris), Dana Nickos (Jesse), Brandon Laumann, Ryan Laumann, Taylor Laumann, and Dustin Biser. Along with six (6) great-grandchildren: Brooke Nickos, Morgan Nickos, Cole Nickos, Summer Laumann, Kennidi Laumann, Mason Fortner and many other nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her brothers Donald Wiles, Sr. (Ann), and Paul Wiles, Sr. (Sharon), and sister-in-law Catherine Wiles. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles W. Wiles (Billy) and son-in-law Denny Goetz.
She spent many years as a member of the Moose Lodge #371, the Pythians, AmVets of Fairfield PA and the Blue Ridge Sportsmans Club.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed by everyone's life she touched.
A memorial service in celebration of Betty's life will be held on August 31, 2024, at 11:00am at the Resthaven Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fairfield AmVet following the service.
