Mr. Bernard Richard Kefauver, Sr., 87, of Knoxville, MD passed away peacefully on April 30, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He was the husband of Mary Margaret Rice Kefauver, his wife of 46 years. Born in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Newton and Lillie (Crouse) Kefauver. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 21 and served for four years at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois. Mr. Kefauver was employed for over 30 years as a Lineman with Potomac Edison. He was an avid fisherman, and loved fishing in his boat on the Potomac River. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Kefauver is survived by three daughters, Karen Weddle, Robin Schroyer, and Katrina Guthrie; a son, Bernard R. Kefauver, Jr.; three stepsons, Bruce Rice, Joseph Rice, and Daniel Rice; 21 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family, and was also preceded in death by his former wife, Dolly K. Kefauver, and a stepson, Dwight Leo Rice. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM on Wednesday, May 4th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy. in Frederick, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 5th. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Daniel Rice, Jr., Brian Schroyer, Jacob Weddle, Dwight "Ike" Rice, Jr., Bruce Rice, Jr., and Charles "Chuck" Rice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation , Finance Department 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 (www.kidney.org). .
