Mrs. Barbara L. Townley, age 79, formally of Louisville, KY and Walkersville, MD, peacefully went to be with her heavenly Father on January 26, 2016. Born January 19, 1937 in Dyersburg, TN, and growing up in Louisville, KY she is the daughter of the late James and Thelma-Lou Gibson. She is predeceased by her brother, James "Jimmy" Gibson. She is the loving, dedicated and devoted wife of the late F. Clayton Townley, who predeceased her in 1984. Mrs. Townley had been retired from Bechtel Corporation in Maryland for many years. She was very active in her churches, Parkwood Baptist in Louisville, KY and Southend Baptist in Frederick, MD. She served as Sunday school teacher for both, as well as, on numerous committees and clubs. She loved her "Old Kentucky home" and her Maryland home. She enjoyed volunteering in both communities, she loved spending time with her family and animals, vacationing (especially in Puerto Rico and Panama City Beach, FL), camping, playing Bridge and Scrabble, gardening, making clothes, needlework, she loved "Thunder over Louisville", the first Saturday in May, Washington Redskins and watching old westerns, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She had been a resident of Heartfields Assisted Living in Frederick, MD since March of 2011. Surviving are Daughter, Theresa L. Townley of Frederick, MD; Son, Mark L. Townley and wife, May of Orange, VA and Daughter, Tracie L. Cody and husband, Jay of Thurmont, MD; One grandchild, Tiffany L. Townley of Frederick, MD; six step-grandchildren: Sarah R. Cody, Rachel E. Cody and John S. Cody all of various locations in Frederick, MD and Jason Kimmer of South Dakota, Carrie Kimmer of Richmond, VA and Cassie Simmons and husband, Tyler of Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends on February 1, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home on 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD from 7p - 9p. Funeral service will be held February 2, 2016 at Southend Baptist Church located at 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick MD at 11am. Family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD. Interment will be following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD. In lieu-of-flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice .
