She was born to the late Alfred Heavley Labrush Sr and Ella Catherine LaBrush on April 4, 1943, in a small town that she would come to cherish throughout her life. Barbara was a beacon of love and strength for her family, and her memory will forever shine brightly in their hearts.
In 1978, Barbara united her life with that of the late David Shankle Jr., they embarked on a journey filled with shared laughter, cherished memories, and a love that will live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
Barbara was renowned for her boundless compassion and devotion to her family, earning her the affectionate title of the "Angel of Our Family." She was the glue that held everyone together, offering support and guidance in times of joy and sorrow. Her wisdom and candidness were qualities admired by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara was truly a spitfire who told it like it was, endearing her to those who valued honesty and authenticity.
One of Barbara's greatest joys in life was tending to her garden, a place where she found solace and happiness amidst a multitude of vibrant flowers, luscious fruits, and bountiful vegetables. Her green thumb and love for nature were evident in the beauty she cultivated, and her previous homes' flower gardens were a testament to her passion for gardening.
Barbara is survived by her devoted daughter, Michelle Burdette, and her loving son, Donald Moore Jr, along with their respective spouses, Randy and Dianne. Her memory is further cherished by her adoring grandchildren: Jessica Eaves, Jason Eaves and his wife Gena, Jordon Eaves, Devon Watson and her husband Clay, Donovan Moore and his husband Johnathan, and Dillon Moore. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Iyanna, A'Jion, Thomas, and Connor, with the joy of soon welcoming little Evelyn into the world.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth, and brothers, Paul, Alfred, and Clyde. While she leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, her memory will forever remain a source of strength and inspiration.
At this time, services for Barbara are private, but a celebration of her life will be held in the coming months to honor her memory and the impact she had on those around her.
