Barbara Joan Buckley, 73, of Frederick, MD, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2022 at Frederick Health Hospital passing suddenly of heart complications.
She was the loving wife of Francis "Bucky" Buckley for 46 years and was very devoted to her family.
Joan is survived by her mother, Jane Beaver-Freeland' her sister, Jean Hawkins and husband Andy, all of Ft. Myers, Florida; nephew, Matthew Hawkins, wife Crystal and daughter Maggie Jo of Lebanon, Tennesse; Kate Bissinger, husband Brad, sons Andrew and Ethan of Souderton, Pennsylvania; and numerous extended family members.
Joan was born November 14, 1948 in Baltimore, MD and lived with her parents Betty Jane and Charles W. Beaver in Lisbon, MD until they moved to Damascus, MD. When She started school at Damascus High School, Joan was known for her beautiful singing voice, having the lead in numerous operettas. She graduated in 1966.
After graduation, Joan worked for IBMs/FSD for 21 years in Gaithersburg, MD; Atlantic City; New Jersey and Bethesda, MD. Advancing from Secretary to Administration Management.
Later, Joan studied with the Sheffield School of Design, NY, NY, earning her certificate and starting her own interior design business. Over the years she assisted with residential and commercial projects as well as real estate stagings. Joan and Bucky operated their successful antique business "Traditions of Elegance" for the last 45 years.
Joan's hobbies included music - both playing piano and singing for numerous events; painting canvases and gardening. The landscaping at their home was the envy of the neighborhood.
The Lord certainly called an angel home. She will be lovingly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2022 at 1 o'clock PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, 9501B Catoctin Mtn Hwy, Frederick MD. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Andrew Hawkins.
The spreading of Joan's ashes will follow.
