Barbara Ann Abell, 76 of Mount Airy passed away at her home on March 16, 2017. She was the wife of George Franklin Abell. Born on December 31, 1940 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Charles Rich and Charlotte Watson. Mrs. Abell worked, at one time, as an Administrative Assistant at Bell Telephone Company. She grew up in Prince George's County and loved crabbing, crocheting, gardening and had a green thumb. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed trips to Charles Town, playing Bingo, Duck Pin bowling and doing puzzles. Mrs. Abell was a member of a women's club in Mount Airy and loved trips to the boardwalks, mainly Ocean City and Atlantic City. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Frank Abell, Barbara Adcock and Betty Brandenburg; 5 Grandchildren: Michael and Jeffrey Adcock, Michael Brandenburg, Charlie Abell and Leann Brandenburg as well as 4 Great-Grandchildren: Freya, Kaylee, Athena and Skylynn. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Abell. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
