Arthur Maurice Alston's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Arthur Maurice Alston
Arthur Maurice Alston, beloved lifetime partner, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 5, 2023, at the age of 71 in Frederick, MD. Born on August 29, 1952, in Jamaica Queens, NY, Arthur was adopted at the age of three by Clarence Alston, a World War II veteran and Red Ball Express driver, and his wife Dorthea Felder, a dancer from the Cotton Club era.
Arthur grew up as the eldest of two sons and received his education within the Catholic school system. Later, he pursued his passions by attending trade schools in auto repair and electronics. Arthur's career spanned various roles, from working in radio repair shops to owning his own four-bay garage. In his spare time, he indulged his love for speed by building and driving race cars and motorcycles at drag strips.
In 1987, Arthur relocated to Leesburg, VA, and then settled in Frederick, MD, in 1989 alongside his life partner, Gayla White. Throughout his life, Arthur was known for his hard work and dedication in many trades. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident contributed to a back disability he faced later in life. Tragically, he was also diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which ultimately led to renal and liver failure.
Arthur will be deeply missed by his loving partner, Gayla White, who stood by his side and supported him through his health challenges. He is also survived by his brother Michael Alston and sister-in-law Iris, nephew Michael Jr., and niece Kayla, all of Bronx, NYC. Arthur leaves behind a multitude of cherished friends whose lives he touched with his kind spirit and jovial personality.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Arthur's life will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 10 am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, located at 9501 Catoctin Mtn Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Arthur's honor. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
